Deanna Kitchen is a flower farmer, designer and educator. Together with her family, she operates Twig and Vine Farm, a microscale cut flower farm specializing in dahlias. Deanna’s heart for gathering, teaching and community service, led her to founding The Growing Kindness Project. Deanna quickly learned the joy and power of giving flowers freely in her community and she set out to find ways to support, encourage and assist others to do the same.

I couldn't think of a better way to end our season than to chat about ways of giving, especially during the holiday season. Deanna Kitchen is a flower farmer, designer, and educator. With her family, they started Twig and Vine Farm, a micro cut flower farm specializing in dahlias.

The Growing Kindness Project now leads a team of gardeners and growers across the world who are on a mission to change the world, one stem at a time. You can follow along with her family farm adventures on Instagram (@twigandvine) and learn more about the project on instagram (@growingkindnessproject) or on the project’s website (www.growingkindnessproject.org).

Show Notes

  1. Lean into your strengths and understand how they fit into your life.

  2. Sometimes it’s just a gift to take a jump of faith and go for it.

  3. What you think is your greatest weakness is probably your greatest strength.

  4. I love this saying….. Be yourself, somebody else is already taken. Be true to your strengths, because you bring something unique to the table. We don’t need to be a carbon copy of someone else.

  5. Start where you are, and use what you have, there’s power in meaningful connections and a small act of kindness.

  6. I’ll end with the quote from Anne Frank, “You’ll never grow poor by giving.”
