Three Brothers Bloom is a charming flower farm nestled on the beautiful Camano Island in the Pacific Northwest! Spanning across 2.5 acres of raised beds, Brenna Estrada takes pride in cultivating a wide variety of stunning, pollinator-friendly plants and has created a space for owls, bats, and other creatures to flourish.

At Three Brothers Bloom, the passion for flowers runs deep. They start everything from seed, putting love and care into every plant they nurture. And guess what? It's a true family affair! With the help of her three wonderful boys, this farm is a testament to the power of family and hard work.

Brenna's passion for flowers is truly remarkable. Starting her growing season in March, she patiently tends to her plants until late spring when the beautiful peonies and irises make their grand appearance. As summer arrives, the annuals burst into full bloom, and the season concludes with a flourish of stunning dahlias.

But in this episode, we're shining a spotlight on the humble yet captivating pansy. Not typically recognized as a popular cutting flower, Brenna has set her sights on transforming the perception of this delicate beauty in the floral industry.

  1. It’s never too late to change your direction and begin a new business like growing cut flowers.

  2. Pansies are a flower that have a lot of history.  From its early hybridization, it has been a flower that has captured the hearts of many for a very long time.

  3. In the past, pansies were grown for their long season of flowering and yes, even for use as a cut flower.

  4. Brenna has found for her production that it’s ok to germinate the seeds with light, and that they sprout best when kept around 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit.  They don’t like the heat mats very much.

  5. All new trails begin somewhere, being able to swim against the current is where you find the new things or in this case new flowers.

  6. Sometimes it’s good to question why things are done the way that they are.  Maybe you’ll find a new way to approach something, a new way to grow a flower, and a new flower to champion.

  7. Lastly, don’t be afraid to swim upstream.  It’s often here that you can learn, grow and inspire others  to do the same.
