Eddie Gordon

Gordon Skagit Farms

We are third-generation Skagit farmers who started growing pumpkins

and squash in 1969. Grandma answers the phone. Sons Todd and Eddie

manage the farm and Market. Grandson Cole helps out

on weekends. A diverse team of committed, creative people

helps us pull the whole thing together.

We love our valley, our community, the people

who come to our Market. Every day

there's something beautiful to appreciate: a spidery pink chrysanthemum

tucked under a sugar maple, swans

in the back field, a hummingbird in the snow,

the setting sun flaming over the drainage ditch.

Every day brings a new opportunity to express ourselves

through our work. Who could ask for more?

Show Notes

  • When business became more consumer bases that opened up opportunities for more varieties.

  • Martha Stewart publications in the 90’s really Brought heirloom varieties to light and that opened the door for more than the traditntal orange pumpkin

  • If you are thinking about growing pumpkins, remember they need a lot of space and not something productive for small gardens

  • It may take a while for the consumer to catch on to a new variety but be patient.
