John Mark Sharpe

John Mark Enterprises

I grew up spending weekends and summers at Gran’s in Sardis, Mississippi. She instilled in me a love for flowers, table settings, church arrangements & home decor. There were always projects and to-do lists & I longed for any chance to be with Gran in her gardens and home.
Gran gave me confidence to start John Mark Enterprises in 2009 with mesh wreaths I sold at retail booths, holiday shows and to every family member and friend I came across.

Thankfully for everyone, JME has expanded from the beginning phases of those wreaths. The Lord has been so kind and gracious as He has had His hand in every detail of this business for the past 14 years. God willing, we are just getting started.

I have the honor of working with the sweetest brides to make their floral dreams come to life, the kindest clients to turn their homes into holiday wonderlands, & the most wonderful customers that we serve at our retail store, John Mark’s in Germantown, Tennessee.

Show Notes

  1. You don’t have to start your business big. You can start small and grow as you go.

  2. I was encouraged to hear that John Mark chose not to provide a delivery service for his flowers.  How often do we feel pressure to fit into a traditional business model.

  3. College isn’t for everyone.  Your time and resources might be better served by developing your skills and talents.

  4. When growing your business, you can also grow into your employees or co-workers like John Mark likes to say.  You can start with freelancers and part-time staff before jumping into full time help.

  5. When it comes to advertising, don’t forget that your work can create the best advertising.  Spend time developing your customer experience and quality work.

  6. Once again, we have a popular retail store that likes to change things up by rearranging the store and merchandise at least seasonally.

  7. Lastly, I loved what John Mark said about enjoying your work and the importance of Growing into your business not just Going for your business.
